The 2023 New York Comic Con didn’t disappoint once again this year. With honorary guests like Chris Evans (Avengers and Captain America), Ewan McGregor (You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder, Doctor Sleep, and Birds of Prey), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Birds of Prey, Kate, and Final Destination 3) it brought its A game to its guests and others alike. While Calderon Charities of America Broadcasting Network had its very first opportunity to attend such an event in New York City, it still brought strong memories of greatness to their minds and souls.
On Thursday October 13thCalderon Charities of America Broadcasting Network had the chance to meet with creators, celebrities, and cos-play artists from around the world. Its first opportunity was with creator of Latina Super Heros Kayden Phoenix and creator of Girl Power Ghezal Oma. Both women spoke of their love for comics and how they brought out female power in comics because they felt it was needed. While there are female super heroines, there is not much Latina super heroines to speak of. Their excitement was captivating and could not go without notice by president and founder Bishop Junior who has loved their comics for the past few years. Durning his time interviewing the two talents, Bishop Junior was able to learn that Latina Comic Heroines are needed for little girls around the world and these two ladies brought nothing short of it in their comic display.
Later in the day, Bishop Junior had another great opportunity to meet with the creator and founder of Stranger Comics Sebastian. During the interview, Sebastian, explained to Bishop Junior how Stranger Comics was created in the Winter of 2007 and how he, as a creator/publisher was first introduced to the world at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con in California. He continued the interview by stating that he shared a booth with 9 Indie Publishers. He later went on to establish the character Niobe who is a Black Female thrusted into the Fantasy World. Since creating her, he has been able to establish an opportunity to develop the charter with HBO where he will be the Executive Director and Co- Writer of either a series or movie. The character Niobe has been praised by outlets such as Comic Book Resources, Geek and Sundry, Nerdist, MTV, Vogue, Ebony, Huffington Post, People Magazine, and more. But all in all, Bishop Junior could do nothing but praise Sebastian as well for his hard work and his past and future accomplishments.
Even though Calderon Charities of America Broadcasting Network had the opportunity to meet others throughout the day, such as, Cosplayers like Hawkeye, J9 Lives, Assassin’s Creed Characters (which were outrageously phenomenal – the creator Vinny did some amazing work on their costumes), Frankie Built, Hero for Hire Costumes Creator, Morgan Benoit, Hummin H2, Artists such as, Jim Mahfood, Dike Ruan, Matt Hawkins, Nick Pitarra, and celebrity guests such as Matt Lanter (Star Wars: Clone Wars), Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), as well as Voice Actors such as, Matt Mittleman, Dee Bradley Baker, Anne Yatco (Genshin Impact), Arron Dismuke (Full Metal Alchemist: The Movie) Michael Rooker (Walking Dead), WWE stars such as, Ted DeBiase, Rikishi, Matt Hardy, MJF, and Lex Luger, and Football Legend Eli Manning. Although legends such as Susan Sarandon, Chris Evans, and Jim Curry were out of reach, it was still enough love and entertainment throughout New York Comic Con that Calderon Charities of America Broadcasting Network had a blast. But Calderon Charities of America Broadcasting Network’s biggest moment was when he attended the Star Trek Universe Panel on Saturday October 14th. He had the opportunity of a lifetime to meet Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi (better known as Kid Cudi) who surprised all of us fans with his announcement that he will be collaborating with Star Treks all new “Boldly-Be” Campaign during the Star Trek push for its newest movie/series that we can all expect soon.
While the Star Trek Panel was amazing there were other panels at the New York Comic that was great. Other panels included the highly anticipated Disney+’s Percy Jackson and The Olympians series panel which covered the new series and its release date which also included a Q&A section to the panel. The EVIL panel was another anticipated panel that brought the best of the best to the Comic Con. There was not a moment of disappointment and Calderon Charities of America Broadcast Network was sure not disappointed either.
The New York Comic Con experience came to a stop for Calderon Charities of America Broadcasting Network when its President/Founder came down with the flu (yes, he actual got the flu thanks to the weather being up and down – buwahahahaha and he is now doing better thanks to rest and medication).
Until next year (that is if the New York Comic Con welcomes him again) we here at Calderon Charities of America Broadcast Network must say that the 2023 New York Comic Con was truly an experience of a lifetime, and we hope to see you all out there in 2024. You will not want to miss it for anything.
